The FDA has introduced a new approach to food safety through its New Era of Smarter Food Safety blueprint, which aims to create a more digital and traceable food system.
The blueprint includes achievable goals to
- enhance traceability,
- respond more rapidly to outbreaks,
- reduce contamination of food,
- and foster stronger food safety cultures.
In 2021, the FDA made significant accomplishments toward achieving these goals, working with public and private partners in each of the blueprint’s four priority areas.
