Scope of your food safety system
ISO 22000 and FSSC 22000 require that you identify the scope of your Food Safety Management System (FSMS).
Scope
Answering these questions will help you determine the scope of your FSMS.
- What products, processes or services are included in the scope of your FSMS?
- What production facilities and locations?
- What statutory and regulatory requirements apply?
The scope will define exactly what is included in your food safety system.
Once you have identified a registrar for your certification, discuss your scope in detail with them to make sure that you both understand the scope of the registration.
ISO 22000 and Statutory and Regulatory Requirements
You must address any statutory or regulatory requirements that apply to your products or processes. These will vary from company to company and country to country; it is your company’s obligation to identify the requirements that apply and address these within your food safety management system. In addition to statutory and regulatory requirements, you must also address any customer requirements.
